About me
Laura Felts (she/her) works on the Eviction Right to Counsel Project as a Legal Navigator/Advocate with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. She is also an independent nonprofit development consultant focusing on tenant organizing and housing policy with organizations in New York State. Laura has worked on housing issues for over 10 years to bring tenants together to protect and expand their rights to safe, decent, and affordable housing. She is the former Executive Director of United Tenants of Albany (UTA) and for several years worked as an organizer and housing court advocate. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American, Caribbean and US Latino Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University at Albany, SUNY. She received the Jim Perry Progressive Leadership Award from Citizen Action of New York in 2020 & the Field Instructor of the Year Award from Belmont University's School of Social Work in 2025.
